The Moffitt Cancer Center at the Villages Regional Hospital and the Cancer Care Center at Leesburg Regional Medical Center work with Moffitt affiliated doctors and oncologists to improve mesothelioma and cancer treatment outcomes for their patients through the increased availability of advanced treatment options. This brings the interdisciplinary team approach at Moffitt in Tampa, and the highest level of cancer care, to the community level without patients having to travel miles away from their homes. Mofitt's internationally renowned physicians are available to collaborate to carry out the treatment plans and monitoring required for the best possible care.
Last week researchers reported that another important biomarker has been identified for treating mesothelioma and lung cancer patients.Researchers have discovered that the fibroblast growth-inducible 14 (FN14) gene plays a role in tumor growth and metastasis. When the FN14 gene was suppressed the spread of the metastasis was slowed.
