A defective vehicle part can be a contributing factor in a car accident and any resulting injuries. Florida drivers should be aware that Ford Motor Co. has stated that it will issue recalls for approximately 441,000 vehicles to repair defects. The recalls will be for certain models of the Fusion sedans and the Escape sport-utility vehicles.

.Two recalls are to be issued. One deals with potential engine fires and the other to correct doors that can swing open while the vehicle is in motion. The recalls are expected to cost the manufacturer $295 million.

Ford will recall 230,756 vehicles built with a 1.6-liter GTDI engines that has the potential to overheat because of inadequate coolant circulation, which can fracture the cylinder head and cause a pressurized oil leak. The flaw has been associated with at least 29 fires in the United States and Canada. The vehicles in the recall include the 2013 and 2015 Ford Transit Connect, 2013 and 2014 Ford Fusion, 2014 and 2015 Ford Fiesta ST and 2014 Ford Escape.

The other recall will be part of an ongoing effort to repair the tab in the side door latch will had the potential to break and allow the door to swing open while the vehicle is moving. The vehicles included in this recall are certain models of the 2013 and 2014 Lincoln MKZ, the 2013 and 2014 Fusion and 2014 Fiesta.
