Games are something pretty much everyone enjoys. Games can sometimes even have benefits beyond just recreational enjoyment. For instance, there are educational games aimed at helping people learn about various topics. Also, some types of games can help promote safe habits.
Could tapping into the love of games help with getting people to drive more safely? This is a possibility one vehicle data software company is exploring. Specifically, the company is looking at whether driving safety data taken from vehicle sensors could be used to create a game out of safe driving.
The general idea behind the game would be that people could get small awards or prizes based on how good of a job, according to data from vehicle sensors, they do at driving safely. In such a “safe driving game,” drivers could also potentially compete with friends or family to try to be the safest driver.
The hope with such a game is that through giving people a chance of winning prizes/awards, inspiring friendly competition and making safe driving more of a social experience, the game would help motivate people to be safer in their driving.
